Questions and comments in one place: new map portal for airport line is being created

The geographic information system provides an overview of the planned route, technical details, and the impact of the construction on the surrounding area. User can see whether the tracks will run in a cutting, tunnel, or embankment, where noise reduction measures are planned, and what the impact on the road network will be. The data is continuously updated, so information on the progress of the construction itself will also be available.

Comments, questions, or suggestions can be added to specific locations on the map or to the entire construction project. The project team will evaluate them and, if possible, modify the plans based on relevant inputs. The comments are available to all visitors to the portal in anonymous form, and designers and experts from Správa železnic respond to them directly in the application. The GIS portal project was created in collaboration with the design company AFRY, which also leads public participation.

‘We already have good experience with interactive map portals, for example from the preparation of high-speed connections or railway lines in the Mladá Boleslav region. The system allows us to communicate more actively with the public about construction projects. People's suggestions help us respond to specific comments and needs in a given location,’ says Petr Hofhanzl, Director of Construction Management West at Správa železnic.

The Prague – Airport – Kladno railway line will significantly improve transport links between the capital, the international airport, and the dynamically developing Kladno region. Every day, tens of thousands of people travel from this area to the capital, and the modernisation of the railway connection will offer them a faster, more comfortable, and more environmentally friendly alternative.
