PPP project for fast line from Brno to Přerov has its own expert advisor

Three sections of the future fast line connection between southern and central Moravia have advanced to the next phase of preparation. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has selected a team for Správa železnic that will provide expert services in the areas of economic and financial, environmental and social, legal, and technical consulting. It consists of the companies PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic, White & Case LLP, and SETEC INTERNATIONAL. This step is necessary for the successful selection of a concessionaire for this PPP project.

The selection of a consulting consortium for the modernisation of the railway sections between Brno and Nezamyslice took place in the form of a tender announced by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Thanks to the support from this institution, it is possible to guarantee transparency and professional management of the entire process already in its preparatory phase.

I am convinced that the international experience and expertise of the selected advisory team will contribute significantly to the successful implementation of this key infrastructure project,’  said Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic. The aim of the modernisation is to improve transport service accessibility and competitiveness in the region.

The advisory services will focus, among other things, on the environmental and social responsibility of the project, in line with the best international sustainability standards. This will enable a wider range of financing institutions to participate and reduce overall costs.

The planned increase in train speed to 200 km/h will bring significant time savings when travelling not only between southern and central Moravia. The line will now be double-tracked, and level crossings will be replaced by overpasses or underpasses. Construction is already underway on two sections, between Nezamyslice and Kojetín and between Kojetín and Přerov. The entire line from Brno to Přerov will be completed in 2033.

PPP is a model of cooperation between the state and a private partner for the implementation of large-scale infrastructure and service projects with the aim of optimising solution costs. It combines the stability and guarantees of the public sector with the know-how and efficiency of the private sector.
